If you have a NAS, Kodi won't play videos from your NAS for some reason. I gave up on the Orange Pi PC, but if you're still interested, here are the fixes:ġ. I don't do streaming on Kodi but I'm sure the typical video formats run just fine (but I'm not 100% sure). They play but slow and out of sync with the audio. However, unfortunately for me, playing HVEC (x265) videos is a no go. I was able to make Kodi work after two tweaks. I'm confused by that.Īfter a month, I was recommended RetrOrangePi. Maybe there's another version I should be installing? Also, when I open Kodi, it says "Kodi provided by Debian" or something. I installed Kodi through 'sudo apt-get install Kodi'. My RPi 3 doesn't have this problem, so I'm sure it's not a local network problem. However, adding a video path again crashes Kodi again. Deleting some user folder under a Kodi directory fixes the problem. I wanted Debian but it seems like the official Armbian site recommends the Ubuntu version instead, so I went for it.Īnyway, thing is, Kodi immediately closes itself once I add a network video path (I have a NAS with my media on it). My purpose for it is as a media center as it supports x265 videos (which the RPi 3 doesn't). I had absolutely zero problems installing and making it run.
